Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use your papers for digital or inkjet printing?
No. The papers we produce can only be used for screen or offset litho printing.
Can I use your papers for sublimation inks?
No. The papers we produce are used for ink plus adhesive type transfers where the ink peels from the paper after being applied to the fabric.
How can I print your papers?
Texitran HS can only be printed by screen.
Texitran CP and Texitran ECO can be printed by screen or offset lithography.
Remember that offset lithography prints require a screen printed adhesive to enable them to adhere to the fabric.
Does the paper shrink?
Yes all papers shrink that is why we always recommend that you pre-shrink the paper before multi-colour screen printing by passing it through your ink dryers.
If the paper is to be held for any length of time between colours printed it is best to hold it in a hot box at around 45 deg C to stop moisture absorption causing the paper to grow again.
What is the colour print order for a transfer?
General rule is to print the darkest or most dominant colour first.
If the job consists of many colours, this rule may not always apply and it is best to do trial prints and applications to determine the best print order.
What is the difference between a hot peel and a cold peel paper?
The coatings are designed to release the inks at different temperatures.
On a hot peel paper the coating performs best when the paper is peeled away from the ink applied to the fabric 5 to 20 seconds after applying.
A cold peel paper’s coating, releases the inks better after cooling i.e. 30 seconds to the next day after applying the transfer.
What side of the paper do I print?
We supply the side to print uppermost in the packet. This is the only side that should be printed upon. The label on the packet also has an arrow indicating which is the top side or print side to use.
Which paper is recommended for use with powdered adhesives?
Texitran CP and Texitran ECO are recommended.
Texitran CP is well suited to plastisol and powdered adhesive transfers.
Texitran ECO is better for waterbased inks and powdered adhesive transfers.
Do your papers contain phthalates?
